Shantideva (The Way of Bodhisattva) 6 Paramitas, Heart Sutra
In general, the bodhisattva path includes a family of teachings which describe how to live a life of service to others / putting others before oneself, based on understanding and realizing the interdependence of all beings, egolessness and unobstructed love, compassion, and wisdom. Included in this are teachings on the six transcendent qualities (paramitas) which are generosity, discipline, patience, exertion, meditative absorption, and prajna (discriminating awareness wisdom).
In recent years, Pema Chödrön has taught extensively on the classic text by Arya Shantideva, The Way of the Bodhisattva, which provides both an excellent introduction to the study and practice of the six paramitas, as well as study and practice of considerable depth. We cannot recommend these enough. Since she has taught many seminars on this subject, we have created a recommended chapter by chapter version of her audio / video commentary on this book, which is one of the links below.
This section also includes other teachings on the six paramitas, outside of the context of Shantideva's classic Tibetan Buddhist text.
