General Buddhism

This section includes teachings by Pema Chödrön on the general Buddhist path, including the most basic, immediate and powerful teachings of what Tibetan Buddhist's call the "Hinayana" (narrow or immediate vehicle), the "Mahayana" (great vehicle) teachings on egolessness, interdependence, love and compassion, and the "Vajrayana" (indestructible vehicle) teachings of devotion, a very powerful approach to fully realizing the Mahayana and Hinayana teachings.

Classic subjects such as the four noble truths, cause and effect, interdependence, the 12 nidanas (chain links of interdependent origination), and egolessness, are addressed in this section. Pema Chödrön's set Meditation in Action provides an overview of all of these topics.

Recommended books on general Buddhist path include The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving-Kindness and the abridged pocket version Awakening Loving-Kindness, and When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times, all by Pema Chödrön, as well as Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism and the Myth of Freedom, both by Chögyam Trungpa.
